UPDATE: Police say suspicious package at airport not dangerous

UPDATE (7:40 p.m.): The Bismarck Police Department was notified at approximately 4:11 p.m. Saturday of a suspicious package found inside a checked piece of luggage.

Police say the TSA elected to evacuate the airport until the package could be inspected by the bomb squad.

The Bismarck Police Department Bomb Squad determined the package was not an explosive device, anything illegal or dangerous.

According to police, as of 6:10 p.m. TSA was working to reopen the airport and resume normal operations.


UPDATE (7:15 p.m.) : People have been let back into the airport.

According to the airport's website, the United flight heading to Denver has been delayed for more than an hour. It is expected to leave at 7. The website also says the Allegiant flight heading to Orlando/Sanford was delayed an hour but has since departed.


ORIGINAL STORY: Bismarck Municipal Airport was evacuated Saturday evening after a suspicious package was spotted shortly after 4 pm, according to Bismarck police.

By 4:30 pm, several police and K-9 units were on scene. No one is allowed into the airport at this time.
