Bismarck Public Works checking the city's hydrants

BISMARCK, N.D. - Bismarck public works is performing annual maintenance on the city's 4,600 hydrants.

From September 16-20, crews are working from Ninth Street to River Road, and Main Avenue to Bismarck Expressway.

Maintenance workers say rust could enter the water lines, and recommend residents who notice this run the faucet until it clears.

"That way we can tell if for some reason they've been hit, or if they need to be fixed in any way, and that way they do work properly," said Cody Heinert, Maintenance Technician.

Crews will work between Bell Street and 26th street, and Boulevard Avenue and Bismarck Expressway from September 23-27.
