BISMARCK, N.D. - Bismarck Police say a 28-year-old Bismarck man was arrested July 25 for barricading himself in a room and starting a fire in a 53-year-old woman's home.

Authorities say they were called to the 2100 block of Morningside Street.

Police say smoke was coming from the back of the home, and the man was covered in soot and sweating in the driveway.

A torch lighter was found in the man's front pants pocket.

Police say a 31-year-old Bismarck woman told officers the man was at the home earlier and was asked to leave. She says he returned later and let himself in without permission.

The woman says she tried to get him out of the room, but he had pushed a dresser in front of the door. As she was walking outside she heard glass break and saw smoke.

The man was arrested for burglary, arson, reckless endangerment, and criminal trespass.
