Tuesday afternoon, the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber Economic Development Corporation recognized small business leaders in our area.

The Chamber recognized a handful of businesses for their start-up's, profitability and investment back into the community.

However, the faces behind those companies were the ones being recognized.

Colton Shoults was recognized as the New Entrepreneur of the Year. Shoults is the owner of Grand Junction Subs and is the creator of The Craftcade.

During his acceptance speech, he shared a story about how this specific day already meant so much to him, and how he owes his success to his father, Paul.

“He passed away exactly a year ago today, on this day. So, it just blows my mind that this is happening. It's within minutes actually of when he passed away,” says Shoults.

Bismarck native Lonna Brooke was also named the Small Business Person of the Year for her company, Terry's Health Products.
