The Bismarck Library was so overwhelmed with donations it stopped accepting books a week before its big fall used book sale.

It's one of it's largest fundraisers of the year, bringing in more than $40,000 for projects throughout the year.

"We had no place to put them, we couldn't even bring down more boxes for us, we just had to stop. So we did quit the week before we would bring them out," said Darlene Faber, Friend of the Library.

The books are sold for $1 per pound and any leftover books are donated to area charities.

The library will start collecting again next week for the spring sale.
