BISMARCK, ND - October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

The North Dakota Department of Human Services' Division of Vocational Rehabilitation is recognizing businesses for supporting an inclusive workforce by hiring, training and inspiring people with disabilities to excel in the workforce.

The Bismarck Larks are one of those businesses and have received the statewide "You Make a Difference" award to honor them for consistently recognizing individuals' unique abilities and providing work experience opportunities for those with disabilities.

"Some of these folks their excitement to just be a part of it. You know, and it was almost like it was a privilege for them to be at the ballpark and really it was the other way. It was a privilege for us to have them as part of our team," says Larks General Manager John Bollinger.

This past year, the Larks built a new deck with a wheelchair accessible ramp. Management sent out tickets to those who would be using the ramp and extended an invitation for employment to those they spoke with.
