Bismarck Event Center sign replacement project gets under way

BISMARCK, N.D. - A group called Leadership Bismarck-Mandan is looking to replace the Bismarck Event Center sign. They received a letter of support from the Bismarck City Commission.

This sign was last replaced in 1998 when the Bismarck Event Center was remodeled. It still uses the Civic Center name for the facility. Leadership Bismarck-Mandan is looking to make the sign more of a work of art, whether by renewing only the panels on the three sides, or possibly replacing the structure with a piece of public art.

"It's gonna have to be something that people would pass through that facilitates the flow of pedestrian traffic in and out of that entrance, and we want it to be something that is inspiring and iconic for the city," said Natalie Pierce, project chair.

The commission did not promise any money to the project at this time, the support allows city staff to work with the group moving forward.
