BCI to introduce electronic detection K9 officer

BISMARCK, N.D. – The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is getting a new officer. Hex is a 2-year-old yellow Labrador with specialized training in electronic detection such as hard drives, cell phones and sim cards.

These skills will be used as a secondary search tool in conjunction with search warrants.

Hex will show what he can do at the Attorney General's office on Monday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m.

Hex was trained through Jordan Detection K9 and came to the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation following his graduation certification on Nov. 15, 2019.

He was funded by Operation Underground Railroad with Homeland Security purchasing equipment to accompany him.

Hex is the first ever electronic detection K9 in the upper Midwest.
