BISMARCK, N.D. – A man serving a 25-year sentence for his role in a series of crimes against a woman in Williams County in 2015 has lost his appeal to the North Dakota State Supreme Court.
A judge sentenced 23-year-old Jean-Michael Kisi last October to 35 years in prison, with 10 suspended. A jury convicted Kisi last June of gross sexual imposition and being an accomplice to attempted murder.
Investigators say the victim was found walking along the road near Epping, N.D., in November 2015 covered in blood and wearing only a T-shirt.
Kisi argued the evidence was not sufficient to convict, but the Supreme Court upheld the verdicts.
Another man convicted in the attack on the woman, 25-year-old David Mbulu, also lost an appeal with the high court in March. He is serving a 30-year sentence for his role in the attack on the woman.
