BISMARCK, N.D. - This month is all about raising awareness for the kids who want a place to call home.
Adoption agents posted signs in the capitol lawn Wednesday representing all of the children awaiting adoption that are currently in foster care in North Dakota.
November is National Adoption Month, which is a time to recognize the work done by our local foster care system and adoption agencies.
"I don't think most of the people in North Dakota actually understand how many children we work with every year through the foster care system, and how many actually are waiting to have a forever family. Last year we finalized 118 adoptions in North Dakota," said Vanessa Deibert, licensed social worker with PATH North Dakota.
There are currently 36 foster kids ready and waiting for their forever homes in the North Dakota.
