MINOT, N.D.- Tuesday we told you that the City of Minot has chosen its next police chief. Wednesday we caught up with him on what it means to take on the new role.
Capt. John Klug will be taking over for current Chief Jason Olson who is retiring at the end of the month.
Klug has served on the department for 25 years. He will begin his tenure as Chief on Feb. 1. He says this is a career goal he's glad to meet.
“This has been a career goal for me. This is kind of a dream come true. I don't know that it's really sunk in for me yet. It definitely didn't the first day, but now it's starting to take shape, and I'm actually realizing that I'm awake and ready to start moving." Klug said.
Klug will be officially sworn in during a pinning ceremony at the Feb. 3 Minot City Council meeting.
