WILLISTON, N.D. - The third medical marijuana dispensary in the state of North Dakota is now open in Williston.
Now western North Dakota has its first cannabis dispensary, cutting down on driving expenses, as well as making it possible for more people to have access to medical marijuana.
"I've talked to several patients over the past week that are driving all the way to Fargo to get their medicine. Personally, I'm a medical patient, and I cannot imagine making a six-hour drive when I'm having issues," said Ben Taylor, Harvest new store coordinator and trainer.
"I'm not able to travel long distances, not even in a car. Thirty minutes is too long. So, having something right here is wonderful. I think it will help out a lot of people when they start to realize the benefits of it," said Dominic Sutera, a disabled veteran.
The people we talked with said the side effects they experienced from opioids were severe, and did not work for them.
"I don't like the pharmaceutical aspect. Sometimes it works good for some people, and some pills don’t, you know. I was down that route. Sometimes with chemical pills, you have to take more and more of those," said Jeff Baker, NewTown medical marijuana recipient.
The Williston location carries 20 different strains of cannabis, as well as vape cartridges, lotions, and liquid tinctures and pediatric tinctures.
