WILLISTON, N.D. - A crash one mile north of Williston resulted in a woman and her unborn child both passing away while in an emergency C-section, according to family members.
Twenty-eight-year-old Laquinta Cooper, her husband Richard Minton and their two boys were driving on Highway 2, when 18-year-old Derian Sim failed to yield at a stop sign, resulting in a collision Thursday afternoon. Cooper was about 37 weeks pregnant, and after being flown to Minot, doctors performed an emergency C-section when the two passed away.
Sim is charged with failing to yield at a stop sign.
We have still not heard from the North Dakota Highway Patrol if more charges will be filed.
Minton has a Go Fund Me to raise money to transport his wife and child to Memphis, Tennessee where their families live.
