TONTO BASIN, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a second child has been found dead Saturday, but searchers are still looking for a third who went missing after a truck was swept away while trying to cross a swollen creek in Arizona.
Gila County sheriff’s Lt. Virgil Dodd said the first body found was of a 5-year-old boy. The second dead child’s age and gender weren’t provided in a statement released by the Sheriff’s Office.
Crews were searching along Tonto Creek near the community of Tonto Basin.
Dodd said two adults and two children were rescued Friday.
Dodd said authorities don’t know why the truck’s driver ignored barricades and warning signs at the closed crossing.
