MINOT, N.D. - A celebration at Minot Air Force Base paid tribute to 100 years of service of the 23rd Bomb Squadron in the United States Air Force.
The official anniversary is dated for June 22, but the members of this squadron were deployed at the time.
A retreat ceremony and B-52 fly by brought the squadron together today to celebrate 100 historic years.
"It feels great to be a part of such a great heritage. There's so many people that are always coming up to me, or people I meet that were at Minot Air Force Base many years ago, and if they were B-52 aviators they were part of the 23rd Bomb Squad," said B-52 Weapons System Officer Keene Nettles.
The 23rd Bomb Squadron has been assigned to Minot Air Force Base since 1968.
