Thousands of dollars of methamphetamine are off of area streets.

The Williston Police Department says 17 people were arrested on Friday, after 12 agencies conducted a criminal suppression operation in Williston and Williams County.

It’s called "Operation Summer Heat," and officers say it targets locations within the area to reduce drug-related criminal activities.

Thirteen thousand dollars worth of methamphetamine was seized, along with 316 Xanax pills. Many of the people arrested had outstanding warrants.

Officers say number of arrests made and drugs seized are common during these bi-yearly exercises.
