WILLISTON, N.D. - The District 8 School Board vice president accused of stealing funds from the Missouri Ridge Township has resigned from her role on the school board.

Williams County Public School District 8 Superintendent Rob Turner says that Deanna Senior submitted her resignation and it was accepted by the board in Monday night's meeting.

Turner says Senior did not really have access to funds, but could sign checks which had to be approved by the board. Turner says the board approved going forward with a forensic audit of the books just to be sure public funds were not misused.

The Williams County Sheriff's Office says that while acting as the Secretary/Treasurer for the MRT board, Senior took about $29,000. Senior's trial is set for October.

Today is the school board election and there will be another meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m.
