Hey everyone, my name is Julie!
I grew up in a small town in central Wisconsin called Pardeeville. Before you ask, I will confirm, I am a cheese head! I grew up heavily involved in athletics and loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and the UW-Badgers.
I attended Illinois State University where I got my degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in business administration. In college I spent a lot of my time emphasizing in sports reporting. I worked for our student-run television station, TV-10, as a sports anchor and reporter. I was also heavily involved at our radio station, WZND, as a news & sports reporter and as the Promotions Director.
Outside of student organizations, I worked for our Missouri Valley ESPN affiliate doing play-by-play/ color analysis for women's soccer, basketball, softball and baseball. My senior year I was the football sideline reporter.
Through my work at ISU, I have won numerous Illinois News Broadcasting Association (INBA) awards along with a Society of Professional Journalist 2018 national finalist award.
In the summer of 2018, I interned in the sports department at WMTV in Madison, WI. Shortly afterward, I accepted a part-time position as an associate producer. My favorite memory in Madison had to be when the Sports Director took me to Lambeau Field to cover the pre-season game. However, I got great experience being a reporter on scene of the devastating Sun Prairie explosion.
Although I have focused on sports for a majority of my career, I'm excited to try new things and apply what I've learned to news.
Moving away from home to begin my career in North Dakota has been a dream of mine, and I'm ready to begin this new chapter. I'm excited to be in a new place, meeting new people, and telling your story.
