Dan Wolfe

Dan Wolfe started at Northern News Now in June 2016, but he is no stranger to Minnesota. He spent the previous 5 years as a morning anchor/producer at KTTC in Rochester after graduating from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and starting his career as a reporter/producer at KETV in Omaha.

Since the beginning, Dan has had a passion for covering spot/breaking news. He reported extensively on the massive 2011 Missouri River flood that devastated the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. Dan was also one of the first reporters on the scene in Mapleton, Iowa, after the town was hit by a large tornado. He also spent nearly seven continuous hours live on air, covering the Husky refinery explosion in April, 2018.

Dan also has a passion for politics, covering visits to both Minnesota and Wisconsin by Presidents Obama, Trump and Biden. In August 2020, Dan conducted an exclusive, one-on-one interview with then-Vice President Mike Pence, during Pence's visit to Duluth. In February 2021, Dan and photographer Alex Laitala spent two nights winter camping in the Boundary Waters. The story they pieced together went on to win a regional Murrow award. Dan is also the recipient of several regional Emmy awards.

As for outside of work, after several years living "up north" on a Cotton-area lake, he's happy to now live in Duluth. "I love the outdoors. Fishing, hiking canoeing and just being outside," said Dan. In the summer, you can find he and his daughter Lyla shore fishing from any of the Duluth-area lakes. He also loves visiting backwoods trails with his Australian Shepherd Louie. In winter, it's hard to find Dan anywhere other than ice fishing on lakes across Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin.
