I was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, and graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast News.
I've covered stories from as far away as Korea, where Seoul prepared to host the 1988 Summer Olympic Games. I also covered the joint U.S.-South Korean military exercises, riding in a cargo plane for 14 hours with paratroopers who bailed out once the plane was over land.
I covered numerous gruesome murder trials while working in northern California. Thank goodness those days are over. I also covered politics at the Capitols in both North Dakota and California, and have won several awards for writing and reporting.
I married my wife Ana in 1984 and we have four children: Monica, Leah, Ammon, and Samuel.
I enjoy music, traveling, and sports. I just need more time to indulge in them.
