WILLISTON, N.D. - Williston High School’s Activities Director has been relieved of his duties as of this morning.

The announcement was made after David Mieure met with superintendent Dr. Jeff Thake.

Mieure was hired as Activities Director in 2017, and was initially tasked with filling a number of head coaching jobs.

Citing “hiccups” in some of the athletics programs and activities this year, Thake says it’s time to move in a new direction.

“I want to thank Mr. Mieure for his years of service for the district, the countless hours he’s spent as an activities director, and the countless miles he’s put on vehicles travelling to and from sporting events in support of our student athletes,” said Thake.

Thake says he is looking towards the future and rebuilding the system from the ground up.

“I’m really looking for a visionary leader who is going to help grow programs where we have system and structures in place where there’s accountability measures in place, and I’m just looking forward to what the future may bring,” said Thake.

Thake says the new director will be tasked with “some very high expectations.” The district opened the position to applicants this afternoon and Thake says he wants to have the right person in place as soon as possible.
