WILLISTON, N.D. - The Williston Education Association and the Williston Basin School District #007 Board took a big step towards an agreement last night, but the biggest hang-ups still remain unresolved.

Both sides were able to make eight tentative agreements thanks to a package deal offered by the board.

Only four more items are left to be determined, which includes salary and the ‘reduction in force’ policy.

While they are getting closer on salary, the board wants the ‘reduction in force’ policy to be determined by the board, while the association wants a negotiated policy in the agreement.

The board offered another package deal on the remaining items, which Williston Education Association leader Matt Liebel said was “a strong no.” The association says they will bring a counter offer next Tuesday.
