Minot State to celebrate 2020, 2021 grads with in-person commencement Friday
MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University is inviting 2020 graduates to the 2021 commencement ceremony, after last year it was canceled due to COVID-19.
The class of 2021 consists of nearly 650 students.
Each grad was allowed limited visitors, and the school says they are expecting roughly 1500 guests this year.
The event will take place May 14 at 10 a.m. at the Minot State University Dome.
They will also hold a Hooding Ceremony for post-baccalaureate graduates at 8 a.m. in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall.
Last year the in-person graduation was canceled due to COVID.
Leadership said they are honored to bring back the event for graduates this year.
“It’s a step back to the new normal and to be able to see our students in their garb and just happy that they’re able to participate in this special ceremony,” said MSU Director of Marketing Teresa Loftesnes.
A spokesperson for the university said their campus mask mandate remains in place until June 1, and will not change despite today’s announcement from the CDC.
Everyone that attends the in-person ceremony must wear a mouth and nose face covering.
Both events will be live-streamed on the university website.
