Trial canceled as attempted murder suspect undergoes evaluation
BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A Burleigh County court has ordered a psychological evaluation for a Bismarck man accused of stabbing a 30-year-old victim.
Dalton Peltier is accused of stabbing the victim at his residence in August, and was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, criminal mischief and terrorizing.
Judge James Hill ordered the evaluation Monday, to determine whether Peltier is fit to proceed to trial.
The trial originally scheduled to begin Tuesday has been cancelled.
