BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - On this Mother’s Day, a Bismarck woman was inspired to open a business because her mother and her mom’s mom ran multi-generational businesses.

Leia Shalhoob and her daughter Maggie Kopp are helping customers at a Mother’s Day small business sale.

“Thank you guys,” said a customer.

Leia said her mom and dad owned businesses in several industries. Nine years ago Leia branched off one of the family businesses and Maggie helped.

“It takes hard work and being dedicated. If you’re going to commit to something, commit all the way,” said Shalhoob.

Maggie said her mom inspired her to open her own business with her husband.

“I started my own [business] because of always having our own businesses in the family,” said Kopp.

Maggie said this Mother’s Day is extra special.

“It’s different this year actually being a mom now,” said Kopp.

Maggie said someday she believes her 7-week-old son Landon will also have his own business one day.

“He’s going to be our newest salesman,” joked Kopp.

Maggie and Leia said running businesses dates back at least four generations.
