ND State Fair Director: fair is ‘definitely on’
MINOT, N.D. – The director of the North Dakota State Fair told Your News Leader Wednesday the 2021 fair is “definitely on.”
Renae Korslien said the fair had been fielding questions and comments about the status of the fair, after Norsk Høstfest organizers announced Wednesday they would be cancelling the festival for the second straight year.
Korslien said she understood why the Høstfest board of directors made the decision they made.
She released a statement to Your News Leader that read, in part:
“This decision will not make anything change during the nine days of the fair as our plans are already in place. However, it is a very huge loss for not having them on the fairgrounds in September but also City of Minot, State of North Dakota and all of the businesses that were planning on making back a small part of what so many of us lost during the shutdown.”
Both events take place on the North Dakota State Fairgrounds, but while the state fair itself is a mixture of outdoor and indoor events, the Høstfest is entirely indoors inside the State Fair Event Center.
State Fair organizers canceled the 2020 fair due to the pandemic. The only other time the fair was canceled was in 2011 during the Souris River flood.
The 2021 North Dakota State Fair is scheduled for July 23-31 in Minot. Information on entertainment and tickets can be found on the state fair website.
