Dickinson, N.D. (KFYR) - Construction plans are moving along for the new town square in Dickinson.

City Commissioners approved the design phase at $5.2 million and will now put the project out for bid.

The town square will be located on 1st Ave W and 2nd St.

Included in the plan, a stage for entertainment, an ice-skating rink in the winter, a dinosaur-themed play area for kids and more.

“All those in the city can at least, when we do public addresses, when the mayor has something to say on stage and do concerts, and I think that’s the need is for some energy to tie the together the community,” said city administrator Brian Winningham.

After a bid is awarded, construction could potentially begin in late August.

The project’s anticipated completion is in July of 2022.
