One man dead following officer-involved shooting in Fort Totten
FORT TOTTEN, N.D. – UPDATE: The FBI has released the identity of the man who died following an officer-involved shooting south of Fort Totten Wednesday.
An FBI spokesperson identified the deceased as 44-year-old David Suarez.
The spokesperson said an individual was shot by a Bureau of Indian Affairs police officer following a vehicle pursuit, and a subsequent altercation after the vehicle stopped.
According to the FBI, three others were in the suspect vehicle and were not hurt.
The FBI indicated no other details were available at this time due to it being an open and active investigation.
ORIGINAL STORY: One man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in the Fort Totten area Wednesday, a spokesperson for the FBI confirmed with Your News Leader.
A spokesperson with the Bureau of Indian Affairs confirmed with Your News Leader that a law enforcement officer with the BIA was involved in a shooting that took place at Fort Totten Agency in North Dakota Wednesday.
The BIA could not comment further due to the ongoing investigation by the FBI.
