NWNDCF Relief Fund Awards $14,000 in Grants
BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - The Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation recently awarded $14,000 in COVID-19 relief grants to three organizations in the region.
The Bakken Oil Rush Ministry in Watford City received $6,500 to help install new laundry equipment for the area's only thrift store. The funding will help expedite the process of washing and sanitizing donated clothing. Director Dwayne Keener says the thrift store, opened in 2013, has been a vital resource that serves about 1,100 people a week in McKenzie County.
"We're just honored by this grant and the people here in Watford City and McKenzie County that support us. I think that it is just a win-win situation and opportunity for the community to be involved and to be able to help other people in the community through us," says Keener.
Crosby Kids Daycare and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williston were the other two organizations to receive grant dollars this cycle. Since it’s creation in April, the COVID-19 Relief Fund has allocated over $85,000 to human service organizations in Williams, Divide, McKenzie, and Mountrail Counties.
