Ebola 101

Posted: Updated:
The Ebola virus has been in the news a lot lately, but if you haven't done your research, you may not know what the virus can actually do to the body.

Doctors tell me the Ebola virus is caused by a strain on five different viruses. And docs say one hallmark symptom of the virus is bleeding. The person will find blood in their vomit or stool and even their eyes may become constant bloodshot.

But some good news for you even thought mortality rates are high with the virus, doctors say there's not much to worry about as long as you've stayed close to home.

"If you've not been anywhere near those places, and especially in a place like Bismarck, where we're a little bit further from the main international routes of travel, we're going to be safe," says Dr. Noe Mateo of Sanford.

The worst of the Ebola outbreak is happening in western Africa right now.
