Teachers Attend Training Sessions for Marzano Model

Posted: Updated:

Minot teachers acted as students today at the Grand Hotel.

Teachers and school representatives attended day one of informational training sessions today. They learned about a new evaluation system called the Marzano Evaluation Model. The presentations are today and tomorrow. They'll teach the ins and outs of the new method, and explain how their school administrators will evaluate their teaching and monitor their improvement.

This particular model was chosen because of the heavy research base, as well as the fact that the language of the system seems to be user friendly.

“It shows that teachers at all levels can grow and get better, and that's our goal,” says Assistant Superintendent Jeff Holm.

The Marzano model will replace the old homegrown evaluation model that the district had been using to evaluate teachers. The new model focuses on teaching practices and student achievement.
