Minot Community Participates in Color Run

Posted: Updated:
Every color of the rainbow was on display at Roosevelt Park in Minot Saturday morning.  It was the 2nd Annual Give 360 Color Dash.

"We've gotten much younger as a community and these kinds of things when you can get to together and just have fun and build better, that's a good deal," says Minot Area Community Foundation President, Ken Kitzman.

From the very young, to the young at heart, about three to Four Hundred race participants turned out for a morning of colorful exercise.

It's just a really good time, come out here and run, get all colorful, I think it's awesome," says participant, Brian Sneddon.

Hosted by Give 360, an organization under the Minot Area Community Foundation, the event was a way to bring the community together.

"Seeing a lot of familiar faces out here, and a lot of people i don't know, so it's an opportunity to meet new people," says Derek Armstrong.

During the 5k race, participants are bombarded with colored powder at each kilometer mark.  But the race wasn't just for fun, it was also a charity event to raise money for a new Children's Museum for the Minot community.

It will give us something year round that they can get out to and parents can really do things with them that are fun," says Kitzman.

"It's really exciting, we know there's a lot of support for the children's museum," says Give 360 President, Wendy Keller. "And that's what this is about, raising money for that and raising the awareness out there."

Give 360 was able to raise close to $14 Thousand Dollars at last year's Color Dash.  This year, they added another $12 Thousand on to that, thanks to great community support.

The more things we have in the community, the better feedback we're going to get, and the more people are going to say positive things about North Dakota and Minot and everything and it just feels good to help out everyone," says participant, Megan DeGree.

"We have a motto of Live Here Give Here, and this is proof of it today," says Kitzman.
