Northwest Realty Expects New Ramp to Open in the Fall

Posted: Updated:

A new parking ramp in downtown Bismarck has been in the making for more than a year, and it's not going to be finished for a few more months.

The new structure on 6th St. and Thayer should be done by the end of September according to the President of Northwest Realty, Jim Christianson.

He says the building is on schedule and they have not run into any major challenges with the construction.

The ramp will have nearly 495 parking spaces, primarily available for monthly customers.

Christianson says it costs about $12.5 million, but it's worth it.

"It takes a long time and a lot of money to build parking garages they're expensive buildings, but the intent is to have a nice looking building that fits into the neighborhood to get as many cars as possible off the street to make more spots available for customers and retail customer users of the services downtown," he says.

Christianson says the first few the months the ramp is open, it'll be available for monthly customers only. A lot spot costs about $53 per months.
