Health Education Center Holds Scrub Camp

Posted: Updated:

The state is in desperate need of physicians in rural areas, and the North Dakota Area Health Education Center is working to fill that need.

She says hosting a three-day event aimed at high school students working in North Dakota's small towns is the best approach, growing their own. Scrubs camps covers everything from forensic physicians to occupational therapy.

Today, was the last day of the event. More than 20 students from across the state were invited to meet one another and learn the benefits of working in the medical profession in a small town.

"We are getting them excited about what healthcare is. Healthcare is the number two employer in the state, and we need to encourage kids very early on in their career to be able to come back and work in North Dakota and stay here," says Denise Andress.
