Renaissance Royalty

Posted: Updated:
Royalty could be found running all over the Capitol's South Lawn earlier today.

Fencing, jousting, dancing and music, storytelling, face painting and medieval games were all at the Children's Renaissance fair. Equipped with a king and queen it was like taking a step back in time. And although the event is done in conjunction with the Capitol Shakespeare's performance of MacBeth, organizers say it's about the kids.

"I think my favorite part of it is the fact that people bow to me all day long," says Renaissance Fair Queen, Stacy Sturm. "I think that's really important to me but I think it's really important to to kids because there's nothing else like it any time of the year so this is the only time they get to do that kind of stuff with the princesses and princes and knights and practicing to be king and queen so its really just a lot of fun."
