Community Bowl Hosts Party for Bismarck State College

Posted: Updated:
Two years of planning is about to pay off. Walking around the arena with a Bismarck State College 75 Year Committee chair, I can see the excitement on his face.

BSC's new arena, the MDU Resources Community Bowl, is finally completed and the 75th anniversary is coming up fast. The committee says they're just waiting to open the gates.

"We want the whole community to come," says committee member, Marnie Piehl. "It's free and it's because being a community college is about the community, and we want to celebrate that and invite everyone to take part in it with us."

The celebration includes a BJC/BSC all school reunion, live bands, inflatables, and more.

"The big thing with bands is none of them have come back and asked for a lot of money," says production coordinator, Dusty Anderson. "They all kinda just, they just wanna be here. They want to be part of it, which is kinda cool."

Each of the bands has some type of tie to the BSC community, whether it's a band mate who's a BSC alum or just a strong connection to the Bismarck-Mandan area.

"Start the show around five and be done close to midnight," says Anderson. "So, it's gonna be on for quite a long time. About seven hours, five bands, fireworks show, we've got a lot."

Pointing out different sections of the bowl and describing what's going to go where, the committee is hoping the bowl is going to be big enough. But they do know the event will be.
