Beatles Fan Excited for McCartney Concert

Posted: Updated:
In February of 1964, the Beatles played on Ed Sullivan's stage. Capturing the hearts of America, and the ears of one teenager in particular.

"In fact, I wasn't that interested in music until Feb. 9, 1964 when they appeared on Ed Sullivan, I was hooked. And then I started begging my Mom for a guitar," says Beatles fan Denny Greenstein.

And since Greenstein picked one up, he hasn't really put it down.

"My favorite is probably George. Everyone has a guitar hero and he's mine," says Greenstein.

Later that summer, he got a chance to hear his idols at a concert in Seattle.

"Tickets were $5," says Greenstein.

And his ears are still ringing.

"All of a sudden the place just exploded, and it was just loud screaming, and you just weren't quite anticipating it, at least I wasn't," says Greenstein. "It was just wow. And it's like why don't you girls shut up and listen to them."

Through the screaming he was able to pick out a few of his favorite tunes.

"I thought "She Loves You" was the first song, but when I went back and read the newspaper article I guess it was the third song. It's probably the first one I heard so it's stuck in my mind," says Greenstein.

More than 50 years later, Greenstein with his wife and family are heading to Fargo to see Paul McCartney perform, and he's taking a piece of the past with him.

"I made this banner a couple of days ago for the concert because my wife and I plan at some point during the concert to hold that up and we're going to be pretty close to the front, I'm not in the nosebleed section this time," says Greenstein.

Greenstein says he's hoping Paul will perform the songs he sang in Seattle all those years ago. And maybe this time he'll actually get to hear them.
