Urban Harvest Returns to Fourth and Broadway

Posted: Updated:
If you're looking for a fun way to spend your Thursdays this summer, you don't need to go any further than downtown Bismarck. The tenth year of Urban Harvest is underway. Fourth Street and Broadway Ave. are alive with the sound of music.

Urban Harvest will take over the intersection every Thursday for the next six weeks.

"I think Urban Harvest is just a special event for our community. It really gets people together, out to enjoy the summertime, and also just to enjoy local art and shop local and just support each other," says Achala Aull.

A vendor at Urban Harvest, Aull has been doing henna tattoos for about a decade.

"I just think it's a really cool design. I like the heritage of them. I have books about them. So, I know what they're about and stuff. And they're really pretty," says Ella Leidy of Wilton.

Many local artists sell their work at the event, but for many people, it's all about the food.

"I got a barbeque pork sandwich, and I loaded it with coleslaw. And I'm going to try it!" says Stacey Ginther.

DJ's Smokehouse BBQ is one of the food vendors at this year's event.

"We're doing Philly Cheesesteaks. We also have pulled pork, St. Louis-style ribs, and then rib tips, as well. It comes with corn-on-the-cob, and we also have coleslaw," says Darrell Mathew of DJ's Smokehouse Barbeque.

In addition to food and live music, there are fun activities available for the kids. For more information on the event visit http://www.bismarckurbanharvest.org/.
