Brats for the Brave

Posted: Updated:

Military men and women serve our country every day. And today, community members showed their appreciation by serving military members.

The Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce hosted a barbeque for service men and women this afternoon.

It's the fifth year the organization has hosted the Brats for the Brave event. Active duty and retired military veterans enjoyed music, food and conversation.

Sherri Haugen-Hoffart says if it wasn't for the men and women who serve, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the freedoms we have today.

"It is important for all of us in this community to thank our service men and women for all their services, especially in these past years with all the deployments that they have done. They've been away from their families protecting our rights and our freedom. It is so important that we all thank our military men and women for their dedicated service," says Haugen-Hoffart of the Military Appreciation Committee.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple and First Lady Betsty also attended the event.
