Bacteria Found in Jamestown Water Supply

Posted: Updated:

A potential problem with the water in Jamestown. Additional testing has been ordered for the area after the health department found bacteria during two routine checks.

Coliform, the bacteria, does not usually cause illness, but it can spread easily.

The city of Jamestown says the water is safe, and you can still drink it.

"We have the potential to have a problem, we don't have a problem, and that's why we are investigating this if it comes up that we do have a problem the state health department will step in and help us resolve this," says the director of Utility Operations Steve Suko.

Utility officials say it is unusual they failed two tests at the same site, more results should be in this week.
