ND State Fair Teams Up with Foundation for Food Drive

Posted: Updated:

For the second year in a row, the North Dakota State Fair is holding a food drive, but this time, they're teaming up with an area organization.

The State Fair is working with the the Minot Area Community Foundation, which will match up to $5000 donated towards the drive.

Both groups say it's important to give back to a community that's constantly growing.

"The state fair, by beginning this canned food drive to help out individuals in need, is a great response to the community," said Megan Laudenschlager, the Finance and Program Director for the Community Foundation, "and it allows a large amount of state fair visitors and people in the city of Minot to give back to those entities."

"We're very excited about our partnership with the Minot Area Community Foundation," said Jennifer Hubrig, the Marketing Director for the North Dakota State Fair. "It's a great opportunity to be able to show how much the community means to us and to work with somebody else who's also important to Minot, and the state of North Dakota, to give back a little bit," she added.

Many groups, such as 4-H and FFA are encouraged to collect cans of food to bring to the fair.

If you want to donate you can bring canned goods on Monday, July 21st.

Or, you can make monetary donations at the State Fair office.
