Airport Committee Meets in Minot

Posted: Updated:

Minot's airport committee met with city officials on Tuesday, to discuss ongoing construction plans to improve the airport. Aviation consultant Kim Kenville spoke about the positive and negative impacts the construction project would have on the city of Minot and the airport.

The project not only includes a terminal building, but also a new apron for more space for parking aircrafts, parking lots and access roads and a taxiway. Minot International Airport Director Andy Solsvig says the recent weather has affected the progress of the project.

"The terminal project is moving forward. We are about two to three weeks behind schedule, strictly due to weather," says Solsvig. "Everything is ready to go, its just we need nicer weather to keep things moving. The contractor feels confident that we will be able to catch up this summer," he added.

Another part of the project includes construction of a new facility to house the snow removal equipment.

The terminal contract must be completed by the end of 2015.
