The World Cup is a big deal for soccer fans around the world and at a certain Bismarck restaurant.
About five years ago, Reza Kamranian decided to change everything about the former A&W/Long John Silver restaurant located at the corner of 3rd and Front. He wanted to give the place a unique theme and he was a big soccer fan, so Reza's Pitch was born.
"During the years I've lived in Bismarck we've gone to a lot of restaurants and bars and when there were soccer matches on, when we asked people if they'd put it on TV the comment always had been no not many people want to watch that. So, I figured well, I'm doing my own place, why not give it that soccer priority," says Kamranian.
Pitch is soccer-speak for the playing field, as anyone who is currently watching the World Cup knows. The World Cup only comes around every four years, and it just so happens the U.S.A. team is still in contention.
"This time of year, we get a lot more people that are interested in soccer, especially if the U.S. is doing well," he says.
Kamranian has been in the restaurant business locally for nearly 30 years, dating back to the opening of the Rockin' Fifties at Gateway Mall. He credits his success to having a great staff, loyal customers and good food at fair prices without any gimmicks. He says Reza's Pitch will be kicking off some landscaping projects and maybe a patio expansion, but he's not planning on going anywhere else anytime soon.
"The reason I put my name on this one is because this is my last rodeo. So, I'm not planning on expanding or adding on, going to any other locations, we'll stick with this one," he says.
Reza's Pitch is located at 3rd and Front in downtown Bismarck. You can learn more online at www.rezaspitch.com.
