Minot Air Force Base Adds Personnel

Posted: Updated:

More personnel will come to the Minot Air Force Base.

Sen. John Hoeven says he met with Lt.Gen. Stephen Wilson, to discuss the Nuclear Force Improvement Program that was started this year to help strengthen the Air Force's nuclear mission.

Wilson told Sen. Hoeven that he expects about 1,000 people to be added to five bases as part of the program.

"I anticipate several hundred of those will come to Minot Air Force Base. So, this is a very important initiative. Good things for Minot Air Force Base, and I expect that we'll see several hundred added personnel because we have both a bomb wing and a missle wing," says Sen. Hoeven.

Hoeven added that the commander also updated him on the project to replace the main runway at Minot Air Force Base. Wilson said the project is on schedule and this year the Air Force will invest $32.8 million to replace the center section.
