Don't Buy It Until We Try It: Fun Loom

Posted: Updated:
Kids love playing outside during the summer, but what do they do on rainy days? They seem to never be able to find something to occupy their time. Well, there may be a new product on the market for all those kids who love making crafts.

With markers in hand Melanie Gathman and Allyson Christenson are using their imagination to draw and design works of art.

"I make pictures of my friends playing outside with me," says Allyson.

It doesn't take long before they get bored. So, we're going to find out if the Fun Loom bracelet making kit will stretch out play time.

"I think it would make other people happy," says Allyson.

The girls didn't waste any time after they figured out how to open the box. The kit includes 600 silicone bands, one Fun Loom frame, and a Fun Loom hook.

"You put them all in two rows, and then you put them together like these and then you have to do it again," says Allyson.

It's easier said than done. You'll notice the girls had a little trouble mastering the zigzag pattern in certain areas of the Fun Loom frame.

"I think I should show her how to do it the right way," says both of the girls.

You'll notice Allyson has a real system down, while Melanie continues to struggle.

"We didn't do very well, so we have to try again," says Allyson.

We cleared the Fun Loom frame and started over, but Melanie quickly loses interest. As time passes, the rubber bands begin to look more like a bracelet.

So do we love the Fun Loom?

"I thought it was fun to make," says Allyson.

The Fun Loom seemed difficult to me, but the kids claimed it was easy and fun to use. This product could keep any kid busy for hours.

So, this week's Don't Buy It, Until We Try It earns a thumbs up.
