Nano Technology Opens Children's Eyes

Posted: Updated:
It affects our daily lives, and it is constantly expanding. Now, people in Bismarck have the opportunity to get hands on with nano scale technology.

The Gateway to Science opened it's newest exhibit this weekend, giving students an inside look at the technology too small too see with their own eyes. From soccer cleats to water filters, the exhibit highlights the wide variety of products that use nano technology. And supervisors say it's an important field for kids to learn about.

"As this becomes more and more prevalent we're seeing great improvements," says Chris Dorfschmidt the exhibit supervisor. "We're now making and seeing water filters that can clean water that we never would have thought of, and so it's going to become even more important product in our lives and in lives of people around the world. Why not have something like that here in North Dakota where our kids can learn about it? Get an interest in it, and maybe they'll go off and they'll design the next new great thing in nano technology."

The Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network funded this exhibit.
