Obama Gives Lakota Thanks

The first words that President Barack Obama spoke at Standing Rock Reservation resonated with those who heard him speak.

President John F Kennedy spoke in German during his famous I am a Berliner speech.

And this afternoon, President Obama expressed his thanks to the people of Standing Rock in the Lakota language.

During his speech, he stressed the importance of working together with sovereign nations.

"My administration is determined to partner with tribes. Its not something that happens overnight. It takes place everyday and with just about every issue that touches your lives," says Obama.

The president also discussed the role of education on reservations.

Saying that the government should return control of education to Indian nations.
