Tribe Releases Restrictions For Presidential Visit

Posted: Updated:
Spaces are limited for the President's visit to Cannon Ball on Friday. Standing Rock representatives will distribute a limited number of tickets to tribal members.

"There's very few tickets made available for this event. And so, we just try to do the best we can and make it as fair as possible, keeping in mind that we have our own members that we want to try to take care of. We have our veterans, we have our elders. And so, it's a process. And it's hard, because we don't want to exclude anybody, but we're forced to for the safety of the president and the first lady," says Tribal Chairman Dave  Archambault.

Beginning Friday morning, cars will not be allowed to enter the Cannon Ball community. Cannon Ball residents who need to leave the community are asked to leave before 9 a.m. Those attending the event will be notified of a meeting location within the community.

Ticketed attendees who don't live in Cannon Ball will meet at the Prairie Knights Casino for check-in and transport to the event. A photo I.D is required. Buses will be leaving the Casino at 11:15 a.m.

Attendees are asked to bring few personal items. No bags, sharp objects, umbrellas, liquids or signs will be allowed at the site. Cameras are permitted.

There will be a limited number of pre-screened vendors on-site during the event with water and food for attendees.

Camping will not be allowed at the pow-wow grounds from today until Friday evening.

There are a limited number of camping spots through Prairie Knights Casino and Grand River Casino; interested individuals should contact the casino directly.
