Seminary Holds Mixed Feelings About Mayoral Race

Posted: Updated:
One election in Bismarck was much less suspenseful than the rest, and it was the race for the top spot.

Mike Seminary was the only candidate in the mayoral race. He has served on the city commission for the past six years.

Seminary says he has mixed feelings about running unopposed. On one hand it's a relief, but he says it's never good when the population doesn't get to choose.

"You don't really have the opportunity to publicly discuss with much exposure anyway what your plans are, what your goals are or what your mission is, and then once you're elected that's really not the place to talk that much about it. Now, you're doing the peoples business," says Seminary.

Once Seminary is sworn into office, the commission will decide either to appoint or hold a special election to fill his commission seat.
