NDGA Summer Institute Kicks Off

Posted: Updated:

Educators from across the state are in Minot this week for the annual North Dakota Geographic Alliance Summer Institute (NDGA).

The professional development program is geared towards K-12 teachers. This year's topic is Oil, Water and the People of North Dakota.

The group will discuss current topics, various impacts the energy industry, the affects water resources have on technology advancements and the state's economy as well as on the environment, communities, schools and students.

”I think I would like to walk away with a better knowledge of the oil industry from a teacher's point of view, and we will see some people working in the oil industry and be able to bring that into our classrooms, so the students know what it's affecting in our communities,” says Nicole Burtman a Divide County teacher.

The location for the annual Summer Institute rotates each year with the four regions of the state.
